[AD / pr sample] the rougette eva body in black was gifted to me by tutti rouge in exchange for an honest review.
edit 15th august 2020: refreshed the review and added some new imagery in the garnet colourway of eva [pr sample]. photos of this set were shot by ylenia margareci.
today’s review is the eva bodysuit from tutti rouge, which is part of their rougette collection. i’ve been lusting after this piece for a LONG time, especially after seeing it on a bunch on babes on my instagram feed, so i was beyond delighted when it arrived on my doorstep!
rougette’s eva bodysuit is made from a fine spot mesh and stretch floral lace – signature to the rougette brand. it is cut with a super low plunging v-neckline, a slight high leg shape, and is unlined. an inner ‘cup’ like structure in the floral lace is overlaid by the spot mesh, creating a cute look with a little extra support and modesty, while gold plated rings and heart shaped sliders on the straps adds a little touch of luxury. there’s no back hook-and-eye clasp to this body, so it is more of a pull-on style that can be a little trickier to get on.
the back of the eva body has a nice almost brazilian brief cut to the rear leg edge, with the floral lace trimming the same spot mesh. it’s nice to see that the back hasn’t just been made from a completely plain mesh! the strap detail at the back is really cute too, with the shoulder straps meeting in the middle and joining a triangular piece of the floral lace.
overall it looks fun, cute and on-trend – making it a great option for D+ busts to join in on the bodysuit trend, and would look great styled over a regular bra for those who want a little more support! i’ve worn mine a few times out as a top with a maxi skirt or jeans and felt bloody fabulous every time.
i received the eva black in a size medium, which is one size up from my regular clothes size, and my initial thoughts were that it was a good fit for my bust but was just a bit too big elsewhere – meaning i had to safety pin it at the sides to keep it secure. when i later received the garnet colourway in a small, my regular size, i found it a much better fit all-round and felt it gave a bit more support to my bust.
because the fabrics used are so stretchy, it will accommodate a range of body shapes. it did feel quite delicate and if you have long nails it would be a good idea to take your time when putting it on. sadly the straps are only semi-adjustable, which on me is a bit of a disaster because i’m a petite 5’3 with a shorter torso, so i couldn’t get them as tight as i would’ve liked and this also meant that the gorgeous lace panel in the back doesn’t quite sit how it should. an easy fix on a sewing machine by shortening the straps a little bit, but it could be improved by having the straps fully adjustable from the get-go.
one key thing i want to mention also is that the gusset doesn’t have an opening, and is quite short and sits just a bit too far back – something i find in a lot of rougette’s bodysuits. unfortunately on me this is uncomfortable, with lace sitting in places it probably isn’t meant to, but with bodies i usually wear a plain thong underneath for comfort when i style them as outerwear anyway.
overall i’m seriously impressed with this gorgeous piece and i’m so happy to have it in my collection. no doubt it will become part of my regular wardrobe too thanks to how easy it is to style as outerwear – the lace isn’t overly sheer and i couldn’t notice any nipslips at all, but if you’re not sure you could use a pair of nipple covers, or if you want a bit more support than just the body you could easily throw on a bra underneath. is it the most luxurious bodysuit out there? no – but for the price you can’t complain, and the fabrics are soft against the skin.
