lingerie review: frankie bralette and brief – rougette

[AD / pr sample] the frankie bralette sets in both red and black were gifted to me by tutti rouge for the purpose of review. thoughts & opinions, as always, are uninfluenced and honest.

ok, so, as soon as i saw this on tutti rouge‘s instagram i just HAD to have it. you probably all know by now that i love a bralette. i particularly love a bralette that’s designed for D+ cups and even moreso i LOVE a bralette that has a bandeau-style shape or ‘crop top’ kind of design to it because i find they give so much more support.

the babes that be at TR HQ sent me the frankie bralette and brief set in not just the black that’s currently available, but also in the most stunning garnet red hue too! guys, i am so obsessed. i know it’s early but the garnet red is the most perfect shade of red for christmas and i will absolutely be wearing it to eat my christmas dinner in. comfort is absolutely essential.

so, onto the deets! it’s from their rougette sister brand and features the signature rougette lace and mesh – geometric meets floral. swoon! it also flaunts the heart shaped sliders we’ve come to know and love with tutti rouge. overall the construction feels pretty solid, i did have to crack some of the stitches in the black version (which feels ever so slightly snugger than the red) but at a price point of £15 for the bralette and £10 for the brief, a £25 set isn’t going to be completely luxurious and honestly i had no qualms with it. everything was finished neatly, with no loose threads etc.

their website states to go up a cup size – and i would agree with this. i received a 32FF/G in the bralettes and M in the brief for both colours, which are both one size larger than i’d usually opt for. the band of the bralette seems to fit true to size (32 fit like i’d expect a 32 to – not tight but firm enough on the tightest hook to be supportive and comfortable) so i’d only go up in the band if you’re in the FF/G cup already, or if you’re like me with a small ribcage! the briefs were comfortable in an M and i think if i took them in S they’d be just a bit too tight on my waist, so i’d say size up in the brief too if you’re unsure.

i’ve worn the red set for a whole day at work and can honestly say it’s very, very comfortable. i noticed i had to pull the band down a little every now and again but that’s just because it’s technically two band sizes larger than i would usually wear, and i wouldn’t fault the product itself. the ‘cups’ are comfortable and contain my breast tissue really well. there’s a small lined section in the bottom of the cup, before it hits the lace panel. i did notice that my nipples were trying peek through the lace if i didn’t adjust myself properly in the cups, but once they were in the right place they were comfortable and stayed put – no more poking nipples! after a whole day’s wear i did notice some slight quadding along the seam where the lace meets the bottom mesh section, but it wasn’t a huge deal and with something with as little structure as a bralette i’m really not that bothered by it, it didn’t cause discomfort and was again probably down to the band being a tad loose on me.

the briefs are a perfect mix of high waist meets high leg meets brazilian brief and honestly they are a DREAM. they made my butt look SO good and the higher leg cut meant that when i was sat down they didn’t dig into my hip/thigh crease. the folded leg at the back means they sit smooth and flat too so there’s next to no VPL. i mean, i wore them under a normal pair of worn out primark leggings and you couldn’t see the outline of them so i guess that’s an absolute WIN.

i think this is a gorgeous set, especially at the price point, and would be a perfect way to introduce yourself to the tutti rouge/rougette brands if you’re unfamiliar with them at all, just because it’s simply so gorgeous and i think it really captures their spirit.

shop it here on tutti rouge’s website, the bralette is available in 32-38 with multi-cup sizes DD/E/F and FF/G, with the brief in XS-3XL – plus save 10% off your order with my exclusive coupon code LP10
