review: esme body – rougette by tutti rouge

rougette by tutti rouge esme body in sapphire 32DD/E/F

photographs of the black body suit in this post are by my good friend ylenia. follow her on instagram here! the blue ones were taken by myself and my boyfriend.

this week’s review is again brought to you by rougette by tutti rouge – who are quickly becoming one of my favourites! introducing the esme body, available in sapphire and black which are both absolute staple colours if you ask me. this clever little piece can be worn in a multitude of ways. there’s a bralette, a sheer body and an elasticated harness in this 3-in-1 piece, so you can wear just the bralette, just the body, layer them up as i chose to do, and with or without the harness.

i received both sets in 32DD/E/F, with 32F being a sister size to my usual 28G. fit wise they feel like they run pretty true to size – they both fit relatively well in the cup considering it covers multiple sizes, and the band runs true to how i’d expect a 32 to fit on my usual 26-28 band, but it is quite elasticated. i did find the black fits slightly better than the sapphire on me, probably due to black products generally coming up a little smaller because of the amount of dye used.

the bralette is quite a simple construction, consisting of a nude mesh overlaid with signature rougette lace in a simple triangle shape. the band is nice and wide, and fastens with hooks and eyes. i’m going to look into taking the band in a little bit to help get a snugger fit, as it’s quite forgiving and i didn’t feel hugely supported in it. i did feel like it gave quite a pointy shape to my boobs, likely due to the seam/joint in the cups but this doesn’t seem to be noticeable in the photos so maybe it was just my view from above!

the body part is a simple sheer mesh with nice wide shoulders adorned with the rougette lace again. it has popper studs at the gusset for easy on-and-off. i did find that it was quite baggy on me, more so in the sapphire than the black, but this is likely down to it being made for a body type that usually wears a 32 band, which i admittedly am not. it also seemed to be quite long on me but i’m all leg and only 5’3, so if you’re taller than me or have a longer torso you’ll probably find it fits much better!

the harness i found was a bit too long to work on me too. for the black one i tied it behind my neck to get it to sit properly, and will probably look into shortening it so i can wear it a bit more practically, but it’s made of a sturdy yet super stretchy elastic so it would work well on most body types. it adds a nice layer to this piece, and can be worn with any other underwear set too to add an extra dimension to your outfits.

i could see this looking absolutely AMAZING with a pair of high waisted jeans for a night out and the size range is impressive, with the sapphire one going from a 32 to 48 band and in DD/E/F and FF/G cup sizes. the black one looks like it’s only up to a 42 band, but that’s still a great range for such a gorgeous and fashionable piece of lingerie. i would love to see the rougette range start catering for smaller band sizes too as they are such gorgeous pieces of underwear and SO affordable!

is this something i’d reach for regularly? absolutely. once i’ve made some little adjustments to make it fit my body shape better, which is not the fault of the brand as i did have to compromise on the sizing, i could definitely see this making its way into my bodysuit collection for wearing out.

shop the esme body suit here, priced at £24. for 3 styles in one, that’s a bargain!
