it’s that time again, folks! the gorgeous babes at rougette/tutti rouge have done it again and wren may just be my favourite full bust lingerie set at the moment. i love the pvc finish, strapping details and mesh and it makes me feel seriously fierce.
as always with rougette, i’ve sister sized to get into this set. i am usually a pretty standard 28G across the board, and with rougette currently only going down as far as a 32 band, i’ve opted for 32F (same cup volume, two band sizes larger than usual) – i am holding out hope that they start introducing smaller options!
i’ll start with the fit – overall it seems to fit fairly true to size. the cups are shallow in the bottom section, which helps give this amazing uplift and rounded shape. it seems to sit somewhere between a half cup and a balconette, and the cups are lined with a thin foam to help give structure and shape. the band is pleasantly comfortable despite being 2 sizes too large for me, and when fastened on the tightest hook it feels nicely snug without being restrictive. it’s hard for me to tell, but i would maybe say it runs just ever so slightly small in the band – perhaps due to the rigid strip of fabric in the front – but not enough to recommend sizing down at all. i will consider having the band taken in to fit me better if i find that this turns out to be one of my regular rotational bras!
the cups fit great, with the wires fully encasing my breast tissue and sitting flush against my sternum at the gore. there’s no painful digging in either on breast tissue or in my armpit. there does seem to be a little excess wire play at the centre gore causing the very top of it to fall away from my breast bone slightly after the wires end, but this doesn’t appear to affect the fit or comfort.
i’m wearing the high waist brief in a small, which fit my size 8-10 hips/waist perfectly. the entire set blends pvc/wetlook fabric with mesh and strapping detail which i think works really well and gives it a dangerous little edge. the brief offers good overall coverage with a classic brief cut to the legs and a flattering high rise waistline – i would love to see a cheekier lower coverage option available too! as always, the straps are adorned with the signature tutti rouge heart sliders and are fully adjustable.
aside from this photoshoot, i’ve also worn the bra for a whole day at work with minimal issue. as is to be expected with it being 2 band sizes too large there was some slight riding up in the back, but i didn’t experience any major discomfort throughout the day. i think the shallowness and structure of the cups help keep my bust firmly up and supported, a bit like a literal shelf, which in turn reduces the strain on my shoulders that normally comes with wearing a too-loose band.
overall for the bargain price point of £30 for the set (£20 bra, £10 brief) i really can’t find anything to complain about with wren! the quality and feel of the bra are in line with what i’d consider normal for this price range, nothing overly amazing but it’s relatively well made and feels sturdy, and while the fabrics aren’t luxurious they’re soft and non-irritating on my skin which is always a plus.
