DD+ bralettes are slowly becoming more and more common in the lingerie world, and i am here. for. it. today i’m reviewing the beautiful phoenix bralette and brief in blue, from rougette by tutti rouge
the aesthetic of this set is something i wouldn’t normally be drawn to, but the more i’ve worn it the more i love it. the bralette is made up of a black fabric with foam lined cups constructed in a simple non-wired, two-piece shape and overlaid with a pastel blue floral lace. it has quite a forgiving structure with a pull-on design, and is sized with multiple cup sizes per band size. i took the 32DD/E/F size which works quite well for my normal 28G – if anything, i would say it’s perhaps a little on the large side for the cups, while the band is true to size and a little loose for me. i personally quite like the looser band as it means i’m able to pull it over my head/shoulders/bust with ease – i’ve tried other styles with a pull-over style or non-opening band in a 28 or 30 back size and find that they can be a bit of a struggle to get over my boobs!
the shoulder straps are a solid piece of lace with black elastic edging, and are non-adjustable which is a shame as i find them just a bit too long for me. i love the look of the longline band being made of sheer lace, and it isn’t scratchy like some lace and elastic can be! it also doesn’t roll or fold as much as i thought it would, though i expect this is due to how deep it is and the fact it seems to sit below where my skin folds when i sit or slouch, so may be different for others if the edge sits on or above a roll or fold.
the whole design is quite wide-set in comparison to my narrower frame, so i find the straps bunch up a little at my armpit and the cups don’t really give me a forward shape, but it’s great for a really relaxed and comfortable natural fit with light support. it has become one of my go-to picks on a lazy weekend, especially in the warmer weather where i can’t be bothered with wearing real clothes! the modest design of it means you can probably get away with wearing it as a crop top, too. i do find that it doesn’t work so well on me under tighter, lighter clothes as it’s a little bulky, but it definitely adds extra comfort under a snuggly jumper in the cooler months.
the brief is cut like a basic brazilian knicker in the same beautiful floral lace, and edged with black elastic. strapping detail at the waist is attached by small rings, allowing you to move the straps up and down a little to sit where you’d like them best. the gusset is lined and is a good length, and the whole brief is really comfortable and nice to wear. the size small fits my usual 8-10 frame very well, and has that barely-there feel that all knickers should have!
what do you think of this cute little set? you can get it in blue or a soft pink, as well as a black with circular mesh in sizes up to 42FF/G and XXXL. the bralette is priced at £15.00, with the brief at £10, coming in at £25 for the whole set which is a total bargain!
