review: ashley bikini – reign swim

reign swim ashley red bikini review in size small

this ‘ashley’ bikini from reign swim was gifted to me with no obligation to review | photos taken at love bay, poros, greece by my boyfriend.

fuller busted babes, reign swim are a brand you need to keep your eye on! i was honoured to be invited to their launch event earlier this year to preview their upcoming collection as well as be part of a focus group. from the get-go their message was clear – to offer those of us with bigger boobs (F+ cups) the chance to get stylish swimwear that’s similar to what you’d see in high street stores like topshop, river island, primark etc – but designed so it actually fits and supports us!

as reign swim are such a small brand having only just started out, their collection currently consists of a bikini set (‘ashley‘) and a one-piece swimsuit (‘michelle’). the two styles are non-wired, and are each available in red, white or leopard print. the current size range is designed to accommodate dress sizes 8-18 and cup sizes F-K, and pieces are sized in S/M/L.

i received the red ashley bikini in small, which is a great fit for my 28G bust. it has a fair amount of stretch to it and could easily accommodate another cup size and a fuller bust shape than mine. it feels comfortable and supportive, with a white powermesh lining that helps hold everything in place when it’s wet. the back fastens with a regular bra-like hook and eye clasp, which is great as it means there’s a little flexibility in fit (though i did notice that the one-piece swimsuit does not have this fastening and is just a pull-on design). the cross-over straps help with anchorage and spread the weight of your bust across your back, so it isn’t pressing down on your shoulders or neck, and they’re nice and wide with adjustable sliders.

the brief comes in the same size as the bikini top and the small fits my regular 8-10 easily. it’s a comfortable brief with a bit of a deeper rise waistband than a standard bikini, but with a nice higher leg cut. the brief has the same white powermesh lining in the front and gusset for modesty and comfort.

overall, it’s a comfortable and supportive bikini and i would really recommend it if you’re looking for something on trend but simple and supportive for fuller busts. personally i find it just a little too full coverage for me, but i’m one of those who prefers my bikinis to be barely-there for maximum tanning – and i appreciate that the extra coverage helps with the support and comfort aspect for the fuller end of the size range (and not everyone wants to be nearly-naked on the beach)! i also have quite a petite/narrow frame and feel like the front apexes are a little too wide for me, so this may not be a big deal for others.

in terms of pricing it feels pretty average for a fuller bust specialist brand at £45 for either the whole two-piece bikini or one-piece swimsuit, and is a price i feel reflects the quality of the brand. the bikini i received was well made and finished with no loose threads or defects, the materials are comfortable and non-scratchy and it holds shape well. it feels like something i know i can rely on again and again, and while it may not be something i’d personally wear to get my tan on at the beach, i’d definitely wear it to a spa, regular swimming, or going on a cruise or boat trip etc.

some things i’d love to see incorporated to the brand would be the option to select separate sizes for the bikinis (i.e. a small top and medium bottom) as well as some lower coverage designs, but i know it’s early days still and i cannot wait to see what else this fabulous brand come up with!

would you give reign swim a try?
