the rougette alix body is a stunning style that, while not my cup of tea initially, has really grown on me. it’s a total stand-out piece that makes a real statement, and the layering/styling/underwear-as-outerwear possibilities are endless!
the alix body is styled in the rougette brand’s signature floral lace, with a bardot off-the-shoulder shape and elbow length sleeves. it’s almost like it was designed as a top and brief then joined together by strips of elastic at the middle, creating a super sexy caged effect. the rear of the bottom half is made from a soft sheer mesh with lace leg edging for a smooth and comfortable fit with little VPL.
in all black, it’s sexy and stylish and works with any outfit choice. it is completely sheer lace, there’s no ‘nude’ lining to it, so there is some nipple action and i would recommend wearing it with nipple covers or over a bra if you’re styling it as outerwear and don’t want to get into trouble for indecent exposure! rock this body with high waist jeans, leather-look trousers or a chic mesh skirt, chunky boots and a leather jacket for incredible style. the sleeves would also look SO cute layered under t-shirts or vests.
i’m wearing this bodysuit in a small, which is a great fit all-round. it comfortably contains my 28G bust, and fits my 8-10 bottom half with ease. the elastic straps joining the two halves together are just a tad long for my short torso, but would probably be fine for most people (i’m only 5’3 and most of that is leg!). it is skin tight and feels comfortable when on, however i would not trust this without the shoulder straps for longer than a couple of hours – unless i have a lot of dress tape to stick it to my skin. the weight of my bust does unfortunately just pull it down, but the shoulder straps (not pictured) are fully adjustable and convertible attaching with petite gold swan hooks, so you can style up the straps in different ways. with the shoulder straps in place, i actually feel surprisingly supported and lifted considering how delicate looking the lace is! perhaps a thicker band of elastic at the underbust would offer more support when worn strapless.
i’m pleased to say that the alix body features popper studs at the gusset so it’s easy to wear (no faffing around getting half naked or trying to pull it to the side to pee!) and the gusset is lined with cotton. like most rougette bodies, the length of the gusset seems to be quite short and doesn’t come quite far enough forward for me, but i usually wear bodies like this over a black brief or thong if i’m wearing it as outerwear so this isn’t much of a deal breaker.
rougette’s alix bodysuit is a striking, daring piece and available in sizes XS-L (roughly UK 8 to 14 – the initial size range was much larger going up to a 6XL but these appear to have sold out with limited sizes remaining). if you have a smaller bust you might be able to get away with it for an extended period without the straps, but i think it would also look amazing over a plain black bra or even something bright and bold to give a pop of colour underneath. i’m dying to find an opportunity to style this up as outerwear! the versatility of this fuller bust bodysuit makes it well worth the price point, but i did find the all-over lace design a little on the scratchy side compared to some of their mesh/lace combination styles – though it did soften up after a couple of washes. just bear in mind if you have particularly sensitive skin! i would love to see the elastic strapping at the midriff be adjustable, so us shorter folk (and those who are much taller!) can wear it as easily as possible, but it’s nothing that a couple of stitches can’t fix.
