lingerie review: indulgence DD-HH cup lace bralette – scantilly

i have previously worked with scantilly* and curvy kate*, but the ‘indulgence’ bralette set was purchased with my own money. some images self shot, others by belinda burton (credited) including header image.

it’s been a hot minute since i wrote a review, and not for lack of sets to write about – in fact quite the opposite! i have a big backlog of content to get through, but life got in the way of my blogging recently so it had to take a bit of a backseat. but enough of that, you’re here for underwear not my life story! so without further ado, let me introduce you to scantilly’s debut wireless bralette – indulgence*.

the look

the scantilly indulgence bralette* is exactly what it says it is – indulgent. a super low plunging neckline is framed with magnolia floral stretch lace, joined to a buttery soft scuba-like microfibre and brought together with rose gold hardware. the classic black colourway is elegant and timeless, with a soft beige liner underneath the floral lace for added modesty. it offers a more delicate fuller bust bralette option while packing certain design features to ensure a comfortable fit and great shape.

it fastens with a 3×3 set of hooks and eyes at the back, with adjustable sliders on the shoulder straps and signature ‘S’ charm at the centre front. the seams are all finished neatly, and it provides a smooth fit all-around.

the fit

indulgence* is produced in S/M/L/XL sizing, with a specific size chart correlating to back and cup sizes (30-38 DD-HH) to help you figure out what’s best for you. based off this, being a 28G (sister size to 30FF) at the time of purchase i opted for size small which fit great. i have since gone up a cup size to a 28GG and find it still fits pretty well, but i do get some digging in along the neck edge. i am not sure that i’d like to size up to a medium however as this might then be too loose around the band; if i were a true 30 back then this may be less of a problem.

the capacity of the cup is spot on for the advertised sizing and i can see it easily flexing to fit smaller cup sizes. it’s a litter harder to judge the fit of the back band since it is made to fit across 2-3 band sizes, but the firm elastics and 3 column hook-and-eye clasp make this workable. for reference, as a 28 back, i wear this on the loosest hook with a lovely, snug fit but it does stretch enough to fasten on the loosest hooks comfortably too.

this style has a coordinating brief* available which is a stunning high waist, high leg shape. i’ve said it before and i’ll keep saying that high waist shapes are not my favourite when it comes to knickers, but sadly it was the only option for this range and i can’t not have a matching set where possible! the cut is super sexy and is made to elongate your legs and nip in your waist, and it does look INCREDIBLE on, but i do sadly find it uncomfortable – not through fault of the design, but just because i don’t like the feeling of high waist cuts. the fabrics are butter soft just like the bralette, and the back is drop dead gorgeous with that magnolia stretch lace to frame your peach in the most perfect way. if they could make this in a lower rise like a classic brazilian, i would be all over it like a rash.

i opted for a small in the brief as well, which fit great as a comfortable size 10 and still fits well as a size 12. it is a bit of a wiggle to get it up and over my hips as the elastic waistband is quite firm, but once on it sits well around the waist.

the verdict

i love, love, love this set. it is a little pricier for a non-wired bralette at £32 (brief £22) however the premium feel of the fabrics, construction and finishing makes it worth it. it’s a real statement piece that would be right at home in the drawer of lingerie enthusiasts and casual wearers alike. i can imagine this layered up to create some stunning underwear-as-outerwear looks, and it is perfect for a cheeky date night in with a bottle of wine on the sofa – no wires to poke you as you snuggle up under the blankets!

if black isn’t your vibe this set is also available in red*, which is just as stunning and i’m really enjoying seeing colour getting introduced to scantilly’s collections lately. if you’re outside of the usual scantilly DD-HH cup size range, i recommend checking out the indulgence body*. i’ll have a separate in depth review of this coming up later, but for now you just need to know this: it is MAGIC. while the bralette has a standard plunging neckline, the body has a high neck/faux halter shape that helps it give a fantastic fit for J-K cups as well (just check it out on one of my blogger friends jen @thecurvygirlloves who’s a 36K!).
